Day-Trip Excursions

Kantishna Drive/Fly Day-Trip Excursions

Kantishna Air Taxi has joined with two lodges in Kantishna, the Kantishna Roadhouse and Denali Backcountry Lodge, to offer a unique excursion to explore the very best of Denali National Park. Traveling by ground and air transportation, our guests are able to enjoy the best of both worlds!
6:30AM— Depart from the park entrance by bus. You will travel up close into the heart of Denali along the 94-mile park road. These buses are the most comfortable buses in the park. Experienced driver/guides will help you discover Alaska's premier wildlife habitat, from the taiga forest to the tundra. The road's last 30 miles may possibly allow an unobstructed view of seeing Denali. Wildlife viewing frequently include grizzly bear, caribou, dall sheep and moose. You even may be fortunate to spot a wolf.
NOON— Arrive at the Kantishna Roadhouse or Denali Backcountry Lodge for a hearty, home-cooked lunch. You can try your hand at gold panning or relax on the riverbank of Moose Creek, or you can participate in other guided activities.
3:00 PM— Return to the park entrance hotels via a scenic flight (approx. 55 minutes). The flight will take you to the north face of Denali, then traverse the expansive Muldrow Glacier, following the spine of the magnificent Alaska Range to Denali Park's train and bus depot. Several shuttles are available to take you back to your accommodations. Inquire at your lodging beforehand.

Pick one of the two following options:

•  Kantishna Wilderness Trails
$344 per person,
includes a $10 per person Park entrance fee.* Two person minimum.

•  Denali Back Country Adventures
$364 per person,
includes a $10 per person Park entrance fee.*

Excursion price includes bus tour, lunch, lodge activities, and air transportation from Kantishna. Ground transport from Denali Park Airstrip to hotels may be extra.

*If you already have a park pass, we will happily deduct this from your total.

Denali Park Day Excursion (Fly/Drive)

The Denali Park Day Excursion is an excellent day-trip to experience Denali National Park from the air and the ground. This trip is the best value for the economical, independent traveler who is more flexible with time. The National Park Service operates multiple buses each day to and from Kantishna. KAT will fly you in to Kantishna and you ride the park shuttle bus back to the park entrance. If you were unable or did not want to get lodging in Kantishna, this is an excellent option for still experiencing this beautiful, remote region of Denali National Park.
Kantishna Air Taxi's flight takes you through the heart of Denali National Park, giving you a spectacular scenic view. Choose the direct 35-minute flight or the 55-minute scenic flyby, which includes flying you to the North face of Denali, traversing the expansive Muldrow Glacier and following the spine of the magnificent Alaska Range. The 5-6 hour bus ride out offers an opportunity to see Denali's wildlife. The experienced driver/guides are resourceful on Denali's landscape and wildlife. They can stop the bus for wildlife viewing and photo opportunities. Please call ahead for availability and usually last minute reservations not a problem.

Choose one of the two adventure options:

• Option #1: Direct flight. $223 per person, includes air transportation, bus                    ticket, and park entrance fee.*

• Option #2: Scenic Flyby flight. $303 per person, includes air                    transportation, bus ticket, and park entrance fee.* Two person                    minimum. 4-5 passengers cost is $223.00 per person.

All bus tickets are purchased through Kantishna Air Taxi and are included in the package price. You do not need to contact Park Service. All bus tickets are standby. If the bus is full, you simply wait for the next bus. This has not been a problem for us and we have not had anyone stranded in Kantishna due to buses being full.
